The 2008 Woking Council election took place on 1 May 2008 to elect members of Woking Borough Council in Surrey, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council. After the election, the composition of the council was *Conservative 19 *Liberal Democrat 17 ==Background== 13 seats were contested in the election with 42 candidates from the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Labour and United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP). Labour only put forward 6 candidates, while UKIP had candidates in every ward for the first time.
